STOP!
Nick Harrison is not a singer songwriter…
Not in the traditional sense anyway.
Harrison's music sounds like it is being bashed out by a band, even though the 21 year old from Folkestone played most of the instruments on the record himself. Live you'll see a three piece - Nick on guitar/vocals, and the band: Naz on Bass and Toby on drums, who collectively have the energy and sound that is something akin to the Arctic Monkeys doing The Police.
They play fierce guitar riffs with gritted teeth, into massively hooky choruses mixed with an infectious reggae influence. Songs to transport you back to being 18 years old and finishing school forever. This is compounded by Nick's sharp storyteller lyrics: "Tragically dressed she arrives/Holding her head off the dance floor/There's few with better taste/And clothes that cover life's mistakes". Nick also has as unmistakable voice. It's charismatic to the point of having its own patent. His new album will be coming out early 2009 through A&M Records.
